  1. Club Soccer Teams Doing Wristband Fundraiser After A&M Consolidated Coach Loses Wife

    Members of the local club soccer community are helping a fellow coach after his wife was killed in a car accident in Milam County last week. 28-year-old Kirsten Salerno died last week after DPS troopers say another driver veered into her lane. She and her husband A&M Consolidated Soccer Coach Stefano Salerno are both originally from Malta. Friends are helping collect money for travel expenses so that several family members can travel here for the funeral. The local U.S. Club Soccer teams launched a $5 wristband fundraiser Monday in memory of her. Continue reading →
  2. Bracelets for Brooke on Sale in Madison

    Fundraisers and shows of support for Brooke Healey, the 4-year-old daughter of a Madison teacher and coach, have been springing up around Madison at wrestling meets, the bowling alley and in schools and shops. Brooke, the daughter of Steve Healey, a teacher in Madison for more than a decade, is undergoing a series of radiation treatments in New York to shrink a tumor on her brain stem. After the radiation treatments, she is expected to undergo experimental treatments in hopes of beating the disease. Healey, an assistant coach for the high school football, wrestling and track teams, has been a math teacher at Madison High School the past two years, and taught math at Madison Junior School the 10 years before that. While Healey has been on a leave of absence exhaustively researching the disease and treatment options, fundraising efforts for Brooke were set in motion by family friends. Continue reading →

    St Benedict's Primary is a small school with some smart ideas. They want their kids to be healthy and fit and they want to raise funds... so they've combined the two ideas and challenged their kids to  walk for sponsorship - the more they walk, the more money they raise. Part of the marketing plan includes handbands printed with the school logo and 'Walk' to encourage the children and legitimise the activity in the minds of various sponsors. A win win! Running a big conference?   4. Sixth Grader Selling Bracelets to Benefit 8-Year-Old Friend with Brain Tumor

    Ryan McCorriston, 11, a sixth grader at Fallon Middle School in Dublin, has started selling blue wristbands to raise money in support of eight-year-old Sirous Sadaghiani, who is battling a malignant brain tumor.
