Family and friends of Stuart Gilson have raised £1,300 from the sale of wristbands created in his memory.
The cash will be used to pay for railings on the stretch of path that runs alongside the River Hull, close to Drypool Bridge, where it is thought Stuart fell into the water.
As reported in yesterday's Mail, Hull and East Riding Coroner Geoffrey Saul is still trying to establish who owns the land.
It is possible the owner may be liable to pay compensation, although Stuart's family have made no attempt to make a claim.
Stuart, 21, disappeared after a night out in January.
Wristbands, priced £1, can be purchased through the Missing Stuart Gilson Facebook group.
They are also available at the newsagents in Elmbridge Parade on Greatfield estate.
