Two Glencoe High School seniors have turned their community service requirement into a fundraising project to help survivors of the conflict in Darfur.

Courtney Kleck and Jordan Fry have organized a sale of 900 wristbands in Glencoe school colors, with all proceeds going for aid to Darfur through Medical Teams International of Tigard.

Darfur, a region in the Sudan, has experienced widespread violence since 2003. Estimates range from 100,000 to more than 450,000 dead, made by international groups such as the United Nations and the Coalition for International Justice.

Kleck says the bracelets will sell for $2 each at the Glencoe student store and at school-sanctioned events, such as athletic contests.
