High school secretary Sue Valletta organized a team as part of Rally Against Cancer, and she said everyone is invited to join.

Sue Valletta, guidance and technology secretary at the high school, is leading Team Westborough High School in the fight against cancer. The team is raising money for Rally Against Cancer, a fundraising campaign to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Top fundraising organizations have a chance to win a visit from Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard.

“You don’t have to be part of the high school to join the team,” Valletta told Westborough Patch.

For a $5 donation, volunteers receive a wristband, she said. Everyone is asked to wear the wristband and their favorite Red Sox gear on April 13 for Dress for Sox-cess day at the school. That is also opening day at Fenway Park, when the Red Sox suit up against the Tampa Bay Rays. The top fundraising school is eligible for a visit from Bard.

In seven years, Rally Against Cancer has raised $2.5 million to support the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber. This year, the program hopes to raise $650,000.

Valletta said she has been volunteering with the Jimmy Fund for about three years. “I like the way they operate and where the money goes,” she said.
