Pub boss backs knife campaign
We will be supporting the campaign all the way.
The Evening Post originally launched Knives Cost Lives in 2006 after Scott Davis was stabbed to death in 2001 near The Oracle shopping centre.
The campaign was started in conjunction with Scott 's sister, Lucy Davis, and Reading East MP Rob Wilson, and was relaunched this year.
In May 17-year-old Robert Spence was stabbed to death in St Mary 's Butts in Reading town centre. The relaunch has been backed by the Spence family and the Davis 's with Reading FC, Reading Police and local councillors.
Chair of Reading PubWatch Bill Donne added: I 'm absolutely delighted that our members are throwing their full support behind the campaign. It 's a great opportunity to raise funds for Knives Cost Lives for something that has affected the very heart of our community.
Wristbands are £1 each from the Evening Post offices at 8 Tessa Road and will soon be on sale at pubs across town.
- A Wokingham girl and former Holt school pupil, Ruth Cunningham, has made an anti-knife DVD and will be showing it at community centres.
The 19-year-old youth worker made the movie after Wokingham friends T-Wood Nadauld and Stephen Bayliss were stabbed to death just over two years ago.
She said: The film looks at why you shouldn 't carry knives and the dangers of getting one turned on yourself if you do.
