We all do it. Promise ourselves we'll save up for that ABC, not spend money on XYZ... and then promise ourselves the same thing all over again next month!

The trick to saving the family finances are, in fact, several tricks.

1. Turn off TV occasionally. All that 'buy, buy, buy' advertising makes us think we need stuff. When all really do is want it. Stuff is just stuff - look around you, do you really need more?

2. Cancel all those daily deal emails. They might appear to be a bargain... but buying something you don't really need or even want at half price isn't a bargain, it's just a waste. How often do you let the deals lapse, how often do you just not use that XYZ? If the answer is more than once, go straight to the inbox and unsubscribe right now!

3. Bored on the weekend? Don't go to a shopping mall for entertainment, choose a picnic instead. Or even go to a movie - it's all way cheaper than trawling through shops looking at things you don't need, buying more clothes you'll wear only once.

4. Do you buy coffee a couple of times a day; or buy lunch at work? Add up what you spend daily, multiply by 5, multiply that by 48 and that's your annual spend. When you've recovered from the shock, think about taking a plunger and quality ground coffee to the office, make your own lunch at home and the money you save will be outstanding!

Don't forget the enormous uses you can put handbands too - from fundraising to self-motivational messages, from  reward statements to club ID purposes. Contact us at Handbands and we'll show you how hundreds of organisations use handbands - and maybe you'll think of a way your organisation can use handbands!
