Printed Fabric Wristbands with Barrel Lock — Tamper-Evident Event Bands
At a glance
Full-colour printed fabric wristbands secured with a one-way barrel lock — tamper-evident and single-use, ideal for paid entry and access control. Numbering, barcoding and UV-weave options. Designed in Sydney since 2004.
Tamper-evident printed fabric wristbands with a barrel lock
These printed fabric wristbands combine full-colour, photo-quality artwork with a one-way barrel lock. The internal prongs pierce the woven polyester to create a tamper-evident seal that cannot be loosened or transferred to another wrist.
Choose the barrel lock for paid-entry, multi-day or security-sensitive events. If you need a band wearers can take off and reuse, choose the non-locking printed fabric wristband.
Choosing your fabric wristband

| Woven (barrel lock, security) | Tamper-evident, single-use |
| Printed (full-colour) | Photos & gradients |
| Elastic (stretch) | Bold, wide, stretchy |
| Bamboo (plant-based) | Plant-based fabric |
| RPET (recycled) | Recycled polyester |

How does a barrel-lock wristband work?
A one-way barrel lock has internal prongs that pierce the fabric as the band is closed. Once locked it cannot be loosened or slid off, so the band is tamper-evident and single-use; it must be cut to remove, which prevents it being passed to another person.
How to order
- Choose your quantity and add the band to your order.
- Email your artwork and requirements to [email protected] with your order number.
- We email your artwork for confirmation before production.
- Production runs to a quantity-dependent lead time — typically 10–14 business days, larger runs longer, with expedited turnaround on application (plus shipping).

When a tamper-evident band is the right call
The barrel lock is not a premium version of the non-locking band — it does a different job. Fit it when the band itself has to prove something.
Paid entry
If the wristband is the ticket, it has to be impossible to hand over the fence. A one-way lock means the only way off is to cut it, so a band on a wrist is a person who paid. A reusable band cannot make that guarantee, and one band passed between four people is three admissions you never sold.
Multi-day events
Across a weekend the band is re-checked at every gate. Because it cannot be loosened or re-tightened, the same band stays valid on day three without re-issuing, and staff can check it at a glance rather than scanning every attendee again.
Zoned and age-restricted access
Different colours separate general admission from VIP, backstage, crew or over-18 areas. The lock is what makes the colour mean something — without it a VIP band walks to the general-admission queue and comes back on someone else’s wrist.
When not to use it
For a school fete, a staff day or a conference where nothing is gated, a locking band is the wrong spend. Attendees cannot take it off to keep, and you pay for security you are not using. Choose the non-locking printed band instead.
Numbering, barcodes and UV weaves explained
The specifications list these as options. They change what the band can do, so it is worth knowing which you actually need — and all three must be specified before production, not added later.
Sequential numbering
Each band carries a unique printed number. It lets you reconcile bands issued against tickets sold, tell which gate issued which block, and void a specific number if one is reported lost. No scanner or app required, which suits community events and school functions.
Barcodes and serialisation
A scannable code turns the band into something a phone or handheld reader checks against a list. Worth it where sessions are ticketed separately, where re-entry needs controlling, or where you want a real attendance count rather than a sales count.
UV weaves
A thread visible only under ultraviolet light. It costs little, is invisible in daylight, and gives gate staff a fast way to separate a genuine band from a copy. Worth specifying for paid events where counterfeiting is a realistic risk.
Ordering for a paid-entry event
Order more bands than tickets
Because a locked band cannot be reopened, every mis-fit is a band destroyed. Staff will close one too tight, a child’s band will need replacing, and a few will fail on the gate. A 5–10% overage on the expected headcount is normal, and far cheaper than a rush reorder mid-event. Keep the spares with the gate supervisor rather than in the office, and count what is left at the end of each day — the difference between bands issued and tickets scanned is the fastest check you have on whether entry is being controlled properly.
Let the artwork decide printed vs woven
Full-colour printing carries photographic artwork, gradients and sponsor logos across the whole band, which is usually what drives the choice of a printed band. If your artwork is simple text or a single logo, a woven barrel-lock band gives a textile finish at the same level of security.
Your obligations as the seller
If you are selling admission, Australian Consumer Law applies to how the event is advertised, what happens if it is cancelled or materially changed, and what you may say about resale. The ACCC’s guidance on selling tickets to events sets out what organisers are expected to disclose. A tamper-evident band supports that by tying each admission to one wearer, but it does not replace clear terms at the point of sale.
Fitting the band at the gate
Most problems with locking bands happen in the first three seconds on the wrist, not in production. Brief whoever is on the gate before doors open.
Leave a finger of slack
The lock closes in one direction only, so a band pulled tight cannot be eased off afterwards. Fit it so a finger slides comfortably underneath. Too tight is uncomfortable over a long day, gets cut off, and costs you a replacement band and a queue.
Sizing for children and for cold weather
Children’s wrists need noticeably more care — a band sized by eye for an adult will slip straight over a small hand, which defeats the point. In cold weather people arrive in jackets and sleeves; fit the band against skin, not over a cuff that comes off later. If your event expects a lot of families, say so when you order and we will advise on length.
