Like most things, without proper care and cleaning, silicone wristbands can look dirty and dingy. So, how do you keep your silicone wristbands clean and looking good as new? Take a look at the following tips:

Tips for cleaning your wristbands.

Wristbands are pretty easy to maintain and clean. Here, we’ll discuss three methods you can follow to clean your silicone wristbands, as well as a few tips on how you can care for and maintain them.

  • Warm water, dishwashing detergent, soft-bristled brush. Mix detergent with warm water. Soak your wristband in this mixture for a few minutes. Remove the wristband from the mixture and gently scrub using the soft-bristled brush. If the wristband has embossed or debossed markings, carefully scrub the area without damaging the markings. Once done, wash the wristband with clean water and gently pat it dry.
  • Sponge, liquid soap, hot water, cold water. Start by mixing liquid soap with hot water. Soak the wristband in the hot water solution for a few minutes. Then, take the wristband out of the solution, and gently wipe the surface using the sponge to remove any residue, stain or dirt. After cleaning the wristband, rinse it with clean water and soak in cold water for 15 minutes. Afterwards, take the wristband out of the water and wipe it dry.
  • Cuticle stick and some cotton. This method is used on wristbands with debossed or embossed sections. You can use either of the first two mixtures in combination with this method. After soaking the wristband in either of the solutions and removing surface dirt, wrap a thin piece of cotton to the cuticle stick tip. Dip the cuticle stick in the soapy water mixture. Then, using the stick tip, remove any residue, grime or dirt caught in the embossed or debossed area. Wash all the dirt off the wristband, and soak in cold water.

Caring for your wristbands

Apart from cleaning your silicone wristbands, there are other steps you can take to maintain the quality:

  • Avoid wearing your wristband to bed, as this can wear away the edges.
  • Never attempt to clean or brush your wristband while you are showering; you may end up ruining the print design.
  • Do not overly stretch your wristband.
  • Avoid letting your wristband come into contact with harsh or abrasive chemicals such as chlorinated pool water and cleaning agents.
  • Do not expose your wristband to direct sunlight for too long. This can ruin its elasticity.
  • Store your silicone wristbands separately from other types of bracelets, especially metallic ones.
