Royal Marines in Devon have been banned from wearing Help for Heroes wristbands while they are in uniform.
The marines who cannot wear the bands are from the Commando Logistic Regiment, based at RMB Chivenor.
The Ministry of Defence said the decision was taken by the Regimental Sergeant Major and approved "higher up the chain of command".
Help for Heroes was set up in 2007 as a fundraising charity to support wounded servicemen and women.
Kitty Dimbleby, a spokeswoman for the charity told BBC News: "There is a strict military dress code and we fully respect the decisions taken by individual commanding officers.
"Obviously we're very pleased the Army does allow soldiers to wear the wristbands.
"There should be no pressure put on anyone, but its great when we see people wearing the bands."
An MoD spokesman said: "No overarching direction has been issued to clarify the wearing of wristbands by members of the Armed Forces.
"In all three services, permission to wear them is at the discretion of individual commanding officers."
The charity has raised more than £1m a month since it began.
