A group of Yerington High School juniors are selling bracelets to honor the memory of their late principal, and to raise money for use by his widow.

Jerry Ogolin lost a battle with cancer late last year after over five years as principal at YHS.

And following Ogolin’s death, Yerington students Garrett Douglas, Tyler Jones, Tyler Eaton, and Brooke Menesini decided one day they wanted to do something to honor him and his legacy at the school, and to raise money at the same time.

Ultimately, those students decided to order purple and white swirl plastic bracelets carrying Ogolin’s name and the words “Love Like Crazy.”

That is the title of one of Ogolin’s favorite country-western songs and a phrase he used often himself.

The group of students has sold over 200 bracelets – available for $5 – but still has over 500 remaining.

The bracelets may be purchased at the Douglas home at 122 S. Main Street or by calling 463-2614.

They will also be sold at home basketball games.

Proceeds will go to Ogolin’s widow Sandra, whom the students reported told them the money raised would be used for a scholarship in Ogolin’s memory.
