Feeling sleepy? The answer lies, literally at your fingertips. A study, just published in Current Biology suggests that electric lights affect our sleep patterns quite dramatically. As citizens of mother earth, and therefore beholden to Mother Nature, our bodies are tuned to the rising and setting sun. The setting sun triggers melatonin which makes us sleepy and off we go to bed... except that artificial lighting  disrupts this pattern. We don't get enough healthy sunshine during the day and we extend our day too long with artificial light at night, thus throwing our bodies out of synch, and delivering the sleep deprivation symptoms we all complain about.

The length of time you sleep at night is not the main determinate of whether you'll be tired or not during the day. Swedish research conducted across 6,000 people shows that the sleep you need is dependent on genetic conditioning, age and health. The study found that the average amount of time we sleep is six hours and 55 minutes during the working week and an hour extra during holidays. Younger people need more sleep as their brains are still developing whilst a 60 yr old needs less.

Are you organising a conference or trade show? Do you want new promotional ideas for your small business? Visit handbands and see how many organisations use rubber wristbands,  bracelet and silicone wristbands to promote a new logo, an advertising logo or attendance reminders. Our hand bands come in vibrant colours with space for a logo and short message on a wristband that acts as a hand band - and people wear them for months on end! Now that's a genuine power band!

There are hundreds of uses for our range of handband products. Some organisations like Eden Public School use them as reminders with the words 'Resilience', 'Respect', and 'Responsibility' on wristbands in one of three colours. We can custom-print whatever message you desire in a multitude of colours - choose whatever you like to conform with a colour coding system you have inhouse.

There are plenty of uses you can put handbands to and our website has lots of suggestions that will help your club, school or organisation. Contact us at Handbands and we'll show you what other people do and maybe that will spark ideas for you too.
