Event Wristbands with Tear-Off Tabs

Custom colour Tyvek event wristbands with tear-off tabs make it simple to manage entry plus drink, meal or activity redemption from one band. Each guest wears a printed, single-use Tyvek band for identification, while staff remove a perforated tab when an entitlement is claimed. Tyvek is lightweight, water-resistant and tamper-evident: if someone tries to remove and reapply the band, the adhesive closure shows clear signs of interference. Order in bulk for festivals, schools, clubs, fundraisers and ticketed events where fast, visible control matters.

Tear-Off Tabs vs Plain Bands

Choose tear-off tabs when your band needs to do more than identify entry—such as tracking drink vouchers, meal claims, ride access or prize redemption. Plain Tyvek bands are ideal for straightforward admission and age ID. If you need a heavier-duty tabbed option, compare related vinyl styles through the all wristbands hub.

Trusted by Australian events since 2004: Handband is designed in Sydney and backed by 4.9-star verified reviews.

Choosing your tab count

Each tab is one redemption, torn off by staff at the point of service. The tab count is therefore the allowance you are granting every guest, so decide the allowance first and order the band to match.

Tabs	Suits	Example
1 tab	A single inclusion	Welcome drink or meal voucher
2–3 tabs	A small allowance	Fete rides, activity stations
4+ tabs	Multi-session or multi-vendor	School holiday programs, festivals
No tabs	Entry control only	Plain colour Tyvek

Print what the tab is for directly on the tab — "drink", "ride", "lunch". A tab with no label relies on staff remembering the rule, which fails the moment you swap volunteers.

Why tabs work better than paper tokens

Nothing to carry, nothing to drop

Paper tokens live in pockets, get lost at the bouncy castle and end up in the wash. A tab is attached to the wrist, so a child cannot mislay their afternoon. For family events this alone justifies the format.

One queue instead of two

With tokens, guests queue once to buy and again to redeem. With tabs, the entitlement is issued at the gate with the band, so every activity queue is a single, shorter queue.

Torn tabs are your reconciliation

Staff keep what they tear off. Counting tabs at the end of the day tells you exactly how many meals, rides or drinks were claimed per station — which is usually how vendors and caterers invoice, and a useful planning number for next year.

Printing and material

The bands are Tyvek — a DuPont-engineered material of flash-spun polyethylene rather than paper. That structure is why a tab tears cleanly along its perforation while the band itself cannot be pulled apart, and why the whole thing survives rain, sweat and a swimming pool.

Printing is full colour on both band and tabs, so sponsor logos, session names and coupon wording can all appear. The adhesive closure is one-way, so the band is tamper-evident and non-transferable once fitted. For a version without tabs see custom colour Tyvek, or for a heavier vinyl alternative, PVC multi-tab wristbands. To price a run, get a quote for your event.

Tear-off tab wristband FAQs

How many tabs can a band have?

Commonly one to five. More tabs means a longer tab section, so if you need a large allowance it is often cleaner to issue a band per day or per session rather than crowding tabs onto one band.

Can each tab say something different?

Yes. Tabs print individually, so one band can carry "drink", "lunch" and "ride" rather than three identical tabs. Label them — it removes ambiguity for volunteers and guests.

Do the tabs tear off cleanly?

Yes. The tabs are perforated, and because Tyvek is a bonded synthetic rather than paper it tears along the perforation without fraying or tearing into the band itself.

Can the band be reused once tabs are gone?

No. The closure is one-way and the band must be cut to remove, which is what makes it tamper-evident. Once the tabs are used the band still works as proof of entry for the rest of the event.

Are they suitable for children?

Yes, and they are one of the most practical options for family events because the entitlement cannot be dropped or lost. Fit the band with a finger of slack and order the smaller size for young children.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

These run to event volumes with quantity-based pricing. Lead time is quantity-dependent, typically 10 to 14 business days, with larger runs longer and expedited turnaround on application.

These make ideal event wristbands with tear-off tabs — staff detach a tab to redeem a drink, session or entry, so access is controlled at a glance.
