LED wristbands — LumoSynch by Handband.

Designed in Sydney since 2004  ·  Trusted by Red Bull and AFL  ·  Deployed for sponsor openers and broadcast moments

At stadium scale, the wristband stops being a ticket and becomes the show. Tens of thousands of RF-controlled LED bands lit on cue. A logo reveal in the chorus. A team-colour wave at kick-off. A broadcast camera that catches the whole crowd doing one thing at the same moment. LumoSynch by Handband makes that moment producible.

Premium product, premium brief. Two power options — rechargeable wristbands (paired with our 60-port recharging module for fast turnaround between events) and replaceable-battery wristbands. Plus a full LED product family that runs off the same control system: LED batons, LED cup lights and LED lanyards for staging integration. Lead time depends on quantity. If the event is on the calendar, the brief should be with us yesterday.

What LumoSynch is, in one sentence.

An LED wristband (or bracelet) with a multi-colour LED, an RGB driver and an RF receiver. The crowd wears them. A control box transmits sequence cues on an ACMA-compliant frequency band. Every band on the same RF channel changes colour, brightness and rhythm at the same instant. The result is a coordinated colour moment across a stadium, a concert hall, an outdoor festival, a sponsor reveal — whatever the brief asks for. Our control boxes can run pre-programmed sequence shows, lucky-dip random colour sequences and sequential lighting patterns. Used by Red Bull and AFL.

Two power options. Rechargeable wristbands ship with our 60-port recharging module — load 60 bands at a time, ready for the next event in one to two hours. Great for multi-event runs (touring shows, weekend sports rounds, recurring activations) where the same band stock is used again and again. Replaceable-battery wristbands use a swap-in coin cell — simpler logistics for one-off events.

Programmed against the brief and handed off to your production crew with a runbook for the day. The same control box runs our broader LED product family — LED batons, LED cup lights and LED lanyards — so cue sequences extend across staging, audience and signage on one grid. Supporters take the wristband home as a brand-coloured keepsake that signals the activation for weeks afterwards.

LumoSynch LED wristbands lit across a crowd showing coordinated brand-colour reveal

A coordinated brand-colour moment across the crowd. Pre-locked sequence cue, broadcast-timed.

When LumoSynch earns its keep.

Not every event needs LED. The use cases below are where the spend pays back in broadcast coverage, social share-back and atmosphere.

Stadium activation

50,000-band crowd reveals.

Stadium openers, grand finals and broadcast moments. Pre-game team-colour wash, kick-off team flash, sponsor logo reveal at the bridge of the chorus. Camera-ready.

Sponsor opener

Brand reveal timed to broadcast.

A new sponsor activation hits the broadcast feed at the right moment. Logo-colour LumoSynch across the home crowd while the camera does the slow pan. Pre-locked sequence cue.

Concert / festival headliner

Drop-timed colour moment.

Drop the band on the drop. The chorus gets the colour wash. Verse one is dark, chorus is brand-coloured, encore is the artist's signature palette. Choreographed to the setlist.

Product launch / brand activation

Audience-as-the-spectacle.

Press day, partner-event hero moment, retail launch. Smaller scale (500–5,000 bands) but the band IS the photograph that goes to media. Wears home as ongoing brand exposure.

Charity gala headliner

Cause-coloured chorus.

A black-tie cause moment where every supporter lights up in the cause colour during the auction or the reveal. Premium-tier framing, take-home keepsake. Built for the donor recognition video reel.

Corporate broadcast moment

All-hands, AGM, conference keynote.

Internal communications event. CEO reveal moment, brand-refresh chorus, milestone announcement. 1,000–10,000 bands. Becomes the still image the announcement piece runs with.

Sequence design considerations.

Where most LumoSynch briefs go wrong: someone picks the colour palette but no one designs the sequence. The colour is the half of the brief that's easy. The cues, the antenna coverage, the programming window — that's the half that needs work.

Cue moments

Three to five hero moments, max.

Don't choreograph every minute. Pick the three to five moments the broadcast or stage director wants to land. Pre-game wash, kick-off, half-time sponsor moment, full-time celebration. Everything between is ambient.

Antenna coverage

Map the venue before the brief.

RF range is up to 400 metres line of sight from a single antenna — extendable with additional antennas where needed. Stadium concrete and steel affect it. Outdoor festivals at scale need a multi-antenna grid. We map the venue at the brief stage.

Distribution

Pre-seat or hand-out?

Pre-seating on chairs is cleanest but adds venue-cost. Hand-out at gates is fastest but adds queue time. Mid-scale events (under 5,000) hand out. Stadium-scale pre-seats. Decide at the brief stage.

Programming + rehearsal

Lock the soundcheck window.

Sequences are programmed against the brief and rehearsed during the venue's pre-game or pre-show soundcheck slot. Build in two run-throughs minimum so the cue lands when it needs to. Reserve the soundcheck window at the brief stage.

Worked example

50,000-band stadium activation. opening-round match of a major Australian sports tournament. Brief in six weeks ahead.

Brief. Major sponsor wants a pre-game crowd moment at an a capital-city stadium opener for a major Australian sports tournament. 50,000-seat capacity. Three cue points: pre-game brand-colour wash (60 seconds before bounce), kick-off team-colour flash (10 seconds at the siren), and a half-time sponsor logo reveal during the broadcast-cut to commercial.

Plan. 50,000 LED bands pre-seated on chairs day of game. Five-zone antenna grid covering the venue. Brand-coloured RGB at warm white intensity for the pre-game. Team-split palette (home colour for half the venue, away colour for the other half) for kick-off. Sponsor full-colour for the half-time reveal. Three cues programmed and rehearsed during the pre-game soundcheck window.

Timing. Brief 8 weeks out. Sequence design + colour proof returned within 5 business days. Antenna plan within the same week. Production starts 6 weeks out (lead time scales with quantity). Bands ship 2 weeks before game day for venue walk and onsite QA. The production team operates the control box on the day. Quicker turnarounds are on application but the antenna plan + venue walk doesn't compress.

What to order.

Three LumoSynch configurations cover most briefs. The fourth is for when the activation extends beyond wristbands.

LumoSynch Rechargeable

6–8 hours per charge. 1–2 hours to recharge.

Latest LumoSynch product. Multi-colour LED, RF-controlled, paired with our 60-port recharging module so 5,000 bands can be reprepped between events overnight. Best for recurring activations, touring shows and multi-day sport rounds. Take-home keepsake.

LumoSynch Battery

8–10 hours on a standard coin cell.

Replaceable-battery LumoSynch. 8–10 hours run time on a standard cell, up to 12 hours on premium leader cells. Simpler logistics for one-off events — no recharging step required. Same LED engine and RF control as the rechargeable variant.

LumoSynch + RFID hybrid

LED moment + activation mechanic.

Band carries the LED for the spectacle moment AND an RFID tag for the activation mechanic (tap-to-collect, gated content, attendee data). Best for brand activations where the LED is the headline AND the band needs a job to do.

LED batons, cup lights, lanyards

Same control desk, broader product family.

When the activation needs more than wristbands. Batons for performer-led moments, cup lights for hospitality and gala tables, lanyards for staff and access tiers. Runs off the same RF control box on the same cue grid.

A single LumoSynch band. RGB driver, RF receiver, ACMA-compliant. The take-home keepsake.

Questions production teams ask before they brief.

What's the minimum order?
Minimum is 100 LED wristbands, but we recommend higher volumes for better unit economics — the antenna setup and programming overhead spreads across the order, so the per-band cost drops fast as quantity goes up. Most briefs sit between 500 and 10,000 bands; stadium-scale activations run into the tens of thousands.
How long does it take?
Lead time depends on quantity ordered. Small briefs typically run a few weeks from brief sign-off to dispatch. Stadium-scale and multi-zone activations need longer for sequence design, RF programming and antenna planning. Quicker turnarounds are on application and depend on driver stock and antenna availability. Send the brief with your event date and we come back with an exact timeline inside 24 hours.
How long does one charge or battery last?
Two power options. Rechargeable LumoSynch: 6 to 8 hours per charge, with a 1 to 2 hour recharge time. Our 60-port recharging module preps 60 bands at a time — a 5,000-band stock can be reprepped between events overnight. Replaceable-battery LumoSynch: 8 to 10 hours on a standard coin cell, up to 12 hours on premium leader cells. For multi-day events (multiple performances across consecutive days), we'll size the spare cell quantity or recharging cycle around your actual daily use window at the brief stage.
What's the RF range?
Up to 400 metres line of sight from a single antenna — extendable with additional antennas for larger venues and outdoor festivals. Stadium concrete, steel and crowd density affect it. For events over 5,000 attendees we plan a multi-antenna grid. Transmits on an ACMA-compliant frequency band. We map the venue at the brief stage.
What programs can the control box run?
Three modes: sequence shows (pre-programmed cue-by-cue choreography for the broadcast moments), lucky-dip random colour (every band randomly picks from the brand palette for an ambient mosaic effect), and sequential patterns (waves, chases, ripples across the crowd). Mix modes within a single event — for example, lucky-dip ambient during play, then sequence-show for the broadcast cues.
Are LumoSynch bands recyclable?
The silicone strap needs a specialist silicone recycling facility — it's not accepted in kerbside or standard council recycling streams. The LED driver and battery (or rechargeable cell) are e-waste and need separation. We're developing an end-to-end sustainability program (on-site e-waste collection, destruction certificate, full reporting) but it's not available yet — if it's a must-have for your activation, flag at the brief stage and we'll discuss timing.
Does the same control system run other LED products?
Yes. The RF control box works across our full LED range — LED batons, LED cup lights and LED lanyards — on the same cue grid as the wristbands. Useful when the brief wants the audience moment AND staging integration (performer-led batons, hospitality table lights, staff lanyards) running together. Talk to us at the brief stage about which mix fits.
