Biros and wristbands helping raise funds
STAWELL - Skene Street School is selling inspirational wristbands and biros to help raise funds to put the finishing touches on its new facilities.
Since students moved in at the beginning of 2011, more improvements have been taking place.
The surface of the central quadrangle has been completed with a covering of artificial turf, bark chips and a garden bed.
The area is sheltered by colourful shade sails providing outside classroom space for groups to utilise.
Small items of play equipment from the Glenorchy Primary School have also been installed on the oval with the assistance of Stawell Gold Mines.
While plenty of work has already been done, Principal Robyn Anyon said many areas are still awaiting completion.
"These include the landscaping of the outside areas of each classroom, the purchasing and installation of large playground equipment, construction of an external sensory area and planting of trees and shrubs," she said.
"All these require extra funds and to this end, Skene Street School's Fundraising Committee, staff and students are working hard."
One of the school's fundraisers is the sale of wristbands and biros with the inscription 'Skene Street School See Me As I Am.'
The proceeds from the sale of these items will go towards the purchase of large playground equipment for the school.
Wristbands and biros can be purchased for $3 each, however those purchasing both a wristband and a biro will pay just $5.
The items are available from the Skene Street School and supporting businesses, including Perry's Shoes, Gold Reef Clothing, Sheer Illusions, Rumba, Sneek a Peek and Petstock.
