UNITED NATIONS — Reese Witherspoon was at the U.N. Tuesday as part of an effort to raise money for a fund to end violence against women worldwide.

The Academy Award-winning actress was promoting a $3 bracelet with an infinity symbol signifying opportunities for women. She is the paid “global ambassador” and global face for Avon Products, Inc.

There is a new fashion fad these days among Amesbury’s elementary school students. Everywhere you look you will see the students wearing silicone bracelets of red, green, white and black stripes, the colors of Kenya. It is all part of the new literacy project called Bracelets for Books.
