Hospitals warned to Standardise Wristbands

Hospitals are being told to standardise wristbands to cut out errors in care.

The National Patient Safety Agency has ordered NHS trusts to use white tags with black text giving details such as name, date of birth and NHS number.

It has given trusts in England and Wales until next July to implement the rules, the Nursing Standard reported.

The watchdog estimates 2,900 patients a year are given the incorrect care because of confusion over bands, which can differ in colour and content.

Tribute bracelets in memory of Fallen teens

Tribute bracelets to honor the five Fairport teens killed last week in a motor-vehicle accident will be available in about two weeks.

Former Pittsford resident Samantha Schwartz, 24, who is organizing the effort, last week ordered 5,000 pink and orange silicone bracelets that feature a forget-me-not flower and bear the words “Forever our Angels.”

Each bracelet will also include the initials of the five young women killed in the crash — Hannah Congdon, Bailey Goodman, Meredith McClure, Sara Monnat and Katherine “Katie” Shirley.

Sikh Youth Seeks to Educate World About Faith

It wasn’t long after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that Sikhs living in the United States realized something was terribly amiss. They had a big bull’s-eye across their chests, or at least it felt that way.

Sikh men were wearing turbans — so of course, they must be anti-American terrorists. That case of mistaken identity has been well documented and, for the most part, remedied.

Shopping Centre Wristbands Promote Child Safety

Family safety will at the forefront at the Foundry shopping centre in Scunthorpe next week.

From Monday, the centre will be taking part in a week-long campaign called Family Safe Holidays.And visitors to The Foundry will be able to obtain free help and advice on how to keep their possessions, family and especially children safe when on holiday, both at home and abroad.
