With food allergies, even eating is a risk – Potentially lethal food allergies make monitoring a must

Hopping atop their wooden footstools, Carter and Zachary Peel wiggle in between their parents, Suzy and Jeff, to place cupcake liners in a baking pan.

A birthday party is later in the day, and the family, as usual, will take its own snacks.

Carter, 4 1/2, is allergic to peanuts, potentially the most serious of food allergies. Exposure to even the tiniest crumb can cause a life-threatening reaction.

Bracelets to raise money in bid to prevent suicides by teens

WICCOPEE – After Linda Ferraro’s son, Nick, took his own life two years ago, she wanted to find a way to turn her tragedy into something that would help people.

Ferraro said she didn’t understand what depression was and how it led her 18-year-old son to kill himself.

“I want to get the word out that you can talk about it,” the Town of Poughkeepsie resident said.

Oakbank wristbands for young drinkers

FOR the first time, young Oakbank racegoers this weekend will be given wristbands to confirm they are old enough to bet and buy alcohol.

Oakbank Racing Club chairman John Glatz said the move would help alleviate the problem of bookies and bartenders having to ask for identification.
At two booths inside the track, people can produce their identification and be given the wristband confirming they are aged more than 18.

Rock Groups Fundraising with Dog Tags

Keane and Feeder are amongst the names designing customised Dog tags that will be raising money for War Child when they go on sale.

Retailing at HMV stores nationwide at £2, all of the profits – approximately £1.54 per item – will be going to the very worthy charity.
