Community Rallies Around Local Athlete With Cancer

Fundraisers set for Hart football player.

Tomorrow night, Nick N Willy’s has opened their doors to anyone who wants to help out Hart Wide Receiver Brandon Arndt, who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor two weeks after the final game of the season.

25% of the proceeds raised at Nick N Willy’s tomorrow night will be sent to Brandon’s family to help cover the cost of treatment, which Brandon is currently undergoing at the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Hart Football’s Quarterback Club is running several fundraising events for the Arndt family. According to a statement, fellow teammate Chris Hickok organized an event at the Londoner Pub which raised over $3,000. A separate fundraiser was also successful at Jersey Mike’s.

And help isn’t coming just from the Hart High teammates. Rivals Valencia, Canyon, West Ranch and Golden Valley donated cash to the family, with Valencia even presenting Brandon with a massive autographed poster of him scoring the winning touchdown against them earlier in the season.

Now, a new campaign is underway. Prayer bracelets have been made and sell for $5. This comes from an idea from the Hart Varsity Cheerleaders, who proposed getting $5 for Hart’s #5. So far, over 1000 bracelets have been sold.
