Hospitals adopt new color-coding for patient wristbands
Monday, June 12th, 2006At Mercy Hospital, patients susceptible to falling used to wear orange wristbands to alert medical professionals. However, the same type of “at-risk†patients at Community Medical Center would wear green bands. Transferring a patient for a procedure or rehabilitation could lead to confusion, and in some cases, danger to a patient’s health.
Now, throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, five wristband colors are standardized for risks, allergies and end-of-life decisions. (more…)
